The Jewish Congregation of Marco Island is the spiritual home to more than 150 families of diverse ages and backgrounds, welcoming both permanent and part time congregants to its open-door policy.
In 1982 a classified advertisement in a local newspaper attracted a nucleus of 60 enthusiastic and dedicated people who evolved into today’s active volunteers who offer and participate in a wide variety of stimulating educational, cultural, and social activities. Although primarily an adult community, the Jewish Congregation of Marco Island has the staff and flexibility to offer children’s programs and tutoring as required. The current professional staff includes Rabbi Mark Wm. Gross and Cantorial Soloist Hari Jacobsen, a president and board of directors.
An overview outline to the Friday Night Service
Shabbat Worship begins at 7:30 PM Friday, year-round. Torah study with the Rabbi is held Saturday mornings at 9:30 AM, September through April. Shabbat Shachrit follows Torah-study at 10:30 AM in January, February, and March, and on the first Saturday of those months worship is followed by a complimentary Qiddush luncheon.
For the benefit of those who may not be available to attend on Saturday mornings, an abbreviated Torah service is featured in our Shabbat evening worship, on the last Friday night of every month September through April.
